Why join Greater Los Angeles chapter?

GLA is a unique chapter. It has nearly monthly programs with interesting speakers for the community. Its programs, open to the public, promote JACL’s mission of promoting cultural, educational and social values and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American community. After the programs, there is time to socialize with snacks, more like a light meal.

GLA is a unique chapter. It formed as a singles chapter in 1983 and offered scholarships to high school students from single-parent families. No longer a singles chapter, GLA continues the tradition of offering scholarships to high school students from single-parent families.

GLA is a unique chapter. It has a Young Adults Group. YAG provides programs and activities of interest to young people. YAG helps young people to promote JACL’s vision of a world that honors diversity by respecting values of fairness, equality and social justice.

GLA participates in and supports Japanese American, AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) and community organizations and their activities.
