A vision of Kanji Sahara, a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the JACL, will finally become a reality. Kanji’s dream of many years is to build a memorial of walls listing the name of every individual incarcerated in the camps during World War II.

On April 25, 2023 the Torrance City Council approved the construction of the memorial in Torrance’s Columbia Park and the acceptance of the California state funding grant ($5 million secured by Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi).

Nancy Hayata, President of the WWII Camp Wall Committee, will speak about the design of the Wall and the educational information that will be provided in display panels.
